В чёрном замке над дубравой
Поселился человек,
Жизнь была ему забавой,
Возвращался от века в век
В эти земли позабыты,
В эти серые края,
Где лишь каменные плиты
О нём память чтят, хранят;
Эхом волчьим небо воет,
Заменив ему уста,
И глаза его не скроют,
Что душа совсем пуста...
Звёзд ему не видно больше
За завесою из слёз;
Ткань миров стаёт всё тоньше,
Меркнет отблеск былых грёз;
С того дня, когда не стало
Света в мёртвой глубине
Того сердца, что пропало,
Что пело песни о добре,
Стал он, ведомый всей тьмою,
Вершить судьбы во гнев лих,
И врата, его тюрьмою,
И сей мир, как дол пустых..
